Painting Project 2012

I'm currently doing a 'Fine Art Painting' project preparing me for my 'FMP' this summer, I have to say I'm really enjoying this project, as its helping me understand the concepts of colour and tone. The first picture was a painting of a shot I took on my way to work last summer, I used Acrylics and water colour, to get the right toning within, and on the bottom, we brought in objects of one colour 'Blue' and set out a still life and began to paint what we could see with the colour being as actuate as possible to give a life like look to our designs.

Fashion & Textiles 2010

Fashion & Textiles 2010
During my first year at college, we were given a brief on creating a piece of clothing out of any material within the textiles materials.
My first impressions of the brief were quite daunting, but I began to really enjoy the research and creating machetes to figure out what my design may look like, that's when I had the idea to create a Corset like top, with my class mate being the model, it was shaped and cropped to fit her shape, and when the final design was finished, It fitted like a glove and I have to say I was rather proud, as it was my first clothing design.

Graphics Poster Compettition 2011

Graphics 2011
We were given the opportunity to create a poster for our college exhibition 2011 for the 2nd year students, I came up with this design by stepping out the box for the first time, and just let go, and wonderfully this design came to life, it felt fantastic!
The 'eye' design was to express my passion for Art at the college. 'Seeing Art is only half the experience' my voice was put into this design, after completing the project, I was placed in the Top 10 on the competition.

Fashion & Textiles, Surface Pattern 2011

Fashion & Textiles:
The brief stated that I was to create 6 Patters of my choice, as I was a huge fan of
animals and cats, I began to research animals online, not knowing what my final out come may be, that's what made it really exciting, I continued to use ink, pain, printmaking and other techniques, when I made a cat like picture with ink, then scanned this design onto photo shop and took sections out, a you can see above, this is what the outcome was, I have to say I was rather pleased, The 2nd last design, actually appeared to look like an Owl, when zoomed out, it was a section taken from the cats head, and zoomed in some more, to create a unique image striking to the eye.

Life Drawing 2011/2012

Here are a selection of my best life drawings, we got the chance to experiment with materials such as pastels, pencils, pen and ink, also using different types of paper, from coloured to card, I personally really enjoyed the life drawing experience as to begin with it became quite daunting, but now I'm alot more comfortable with the situation, its a fantastic way of learning.
my personal favourite way of drawing has to be with pencil, an chalk, I have a huge passion with shading, had this for as long as I can remember.

Graphics Project 2012 Compettition 2nd Place

I personally really enjoyed this project, even though, I'm not as great with graphics as most other projects, but the brief was to create a wine label for either red or white wine, I personally felt the red wine had more flavour so decided to chose this one.
The name of the wine contained the bird 'Partridge' so to begin with, I researched the bird, and even managed to get hold of a partridges foot, and began to create prints dipped in red wine and even ink, to see what they may look like, that's when I came up with the unique design of a Partridge bird walking through red wine onto the label, the look was so unusual, that the wine expert who complimented this, said 'It wouldn't look out of place on a shelf in a wine shop' that's when he chose my design as 2nd I was very pleased! that it ended up in the local Cambrian News 2012

Sculpture Mini Designs

'Camp Cat' Sculpture Project 2011

Another sculpture project, but this was during my first year, The brief given was to create anything, so as I'm a huge fan of cats, and during this project, sadly my cat of 14 years, past away, so in respect to a memorable family member, I decided to dedicate my project to my cat Oliver, during the process of this project, I had never created a sculpture with wire before, so it was very draughting, but as soon as i was given the wire, I got straight into it, with no picture to look at, the sculpture slowly began to become life like, and I have to say I was very pleased with the outcome, and so was my class mates. to finalise my design, I places strips of tissue paper into PVA glue and places 3-4 layers over the skeleton and left to dry. and here's the final outcome, still sitting on my desk today.

Sculpture Project 2012

Well, I have to say, I really enjoyed this project, it showed me that I had more of a creative side towards sculpture that I first intended.
The brief given at the start, was very exciting, the issue: Global Warming and any particular issues regarding this, with my current knowledge about Global Warming, I decided to talk about the current issue between pollution and how our animals are suffering in the Antarctica, with the increase rise of melting ice caps, destroying these beautiful animals habitat, so I decided to create a sculpture of a stunning baby Polar bear to try and show how our ways of living are effecting their life span. I used chicken wire, to construct this design, and bit by bit, placed each feather of with PVA glue, this was very time consuming, but worth it in the end. and so, this is the final result, my fabulous feathered polar bear.

Printmaking Project 2012

During my Printmaking project, I had the chance to try out new techniques and improve my current skills, to create a fantastic selection of 'story telling' print books These contain photo's taken by myself while attending a trip to Brussels, each photo, tells you my experience day by day, and the use of colour on the prints are showing my moods, from faded yellow, to a harsh dark blue, the overall finished project has made me quite proud.
